The reason why is because as Americans we are more sedentary and we consume more sugar now than ever.

So how does CrossFit cure or reverse type 2 diabetes? Our 1 hour classes daily supply you with enough exercise to increase insulin sensitivity, and favorably change how our bodies use sugar. These changes occur for 72 hours after exercise. That means if you come to classes 5 days a week, you will be protecting yourself against the harmful effects of type 2 diabetes. In type 2 diabetes your body continues to secrete insulin which is necessary to pull glucose out of the blood stream, but your body no longer can utilize this insulin because the receptors no longer recognize the insulin like they use to. Exercise increases insulin sensitivity; what this means is that it makes those receptors recognize the insulin again. This allows your body to properly utilize the sugar.

Changing your body composition will also fight against this condition; by increasing lean muscle and decreasing fat mass we protect against type 2 diabetes and also stop it by losing weight which has shown time and again to end type 2 diabetes. By focusing on what you eat and sticking to CrossFit prescription of, "Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar," you will also help fight against this condition by limiting sugar intake and eating real nutritious food!
